BEING LATE

Thanks to Erasmo Cortez

This morning, I was running super late to meet with my supervisor. We meet once a month to go over anything that I am having trouble with on the job. I am a substance abuse counselor. My husband usually goes to work at six in the morning, but today, he had to go in at nine like I did. Our schedules got totally thrown off. I ended up getting up late and putting the coffee on late. I looked terrible going to work. To make matters worse, I got my to-go coffee mug and I grabbed the top really quickly, surely enough, the entire cup of coffee spilled all over my clothes and the floor. I was wearing a winter white sweater so I had to change. I quickly logged onto my Gmail account using my clear wireless internet connection and sent my supervisor an e-mail explaining that I was going to be a little late. I know that being tardy is her pet peeve and that she is a little ticked about it, but sometimes things happen that you just can’t control. Unfortunately, they happened to me today when I needed to be on time!

Love to Cook!

Guest post written by Arnoldo Acevedo

I’ve always loved to cook and when I got old enough for my own place I totally decked my kitchen out. I got the copper pans and all the cookware you could imagine and I even got that Viking stove I’d heard so much about for so long. When I moved in I also went towww.Cabletvadvisor.com to make sure I’d get the Food Network because that’s pretty much all that’s ever one my TV, if we’re being honest. I can’t imagine a time when I’m not watching Rachel Rayor Barefoot Contessa whip something up and you know, I think I’ve learned a lot just from absorbing what they say. I think my all time favorite has to be Nigella Lawson because she’s so sultry and sexy and she’s got that awesome British accent. She’s a really good cook, too and you can’t really ask for more in a woman than that! My mom sure wishes I’d find someone like her and settle down but you know, I can cook for myself!

People-watching

This guest post from Edgardo Rosa

People-watching has got to be the best part about traveling. I realize that it’s a total waste of time, but there is nothing better than getting to the airport in time to park, get through security and sit down at the bar nearest to your gate for a good dose of America’s finest. Since I don’t travel weekly for work, it’s always a gamble which bar I will be parked at, since I never remember which belongs to each individual concourse between trips. Today, it was a seafood restaurant. I pulled up a seat at the bar, ordered a drink and look around to see what was on Directv. Now, call me crazy, but I would be a little sketched out by eating seafood in an airport. Maybe if the airport were in a seaside city, such as Miami or Tampa, but never anywhere inland. Nevertheless, as I look around, I see many travelers ordering from the menu that could easily pass for a novella. I think I’ll stick with my gin and tonic.

Trying out a green strawberry smoothie

Guest post written by Gwen Holloway

I really love the taste of fruit. I guess that's a good thing because I never had to worry about not getting enough of my fruit and vegetables. I'm sure that my mom was really glad because of that too. Well I still can't really get enough of it as an adult, but I also like my variety when it comes to my fruit.

I was looking up some info on some different fruit recipes to try while I was online a few nights ago and I ended up stumbling across the website CLEARWIRELESSINTERNET.com. I read it and after that I decided to change over my home internet service to it.

I saw this one recipe for a green strawberry smoothie that just sounded so weird that I had to try it out, so I did. I think that it's one of my new favorite smoothie recipes now! Although my boyfriend wasn't quite as enthusiastic as I was about it. It took a while to talk him into even trying it because he didn't like the green color of it.

Break In At The School

During the family day at my daughter’s school, it was a happy atmosphere around the school area. It was a well attended affair with booths selling food, home decors, doing face painting and there was a lot of activities for the kids. The kids had so much fun. The drizzle did not scare them away; the fun just continued until it was closing time. So we it was really a wonderful weekend for the school.

Come Monday morning, it was a totally different scenario at the school. There were police cars all over and cops inside the school. A mom who was also bringing her child to school told me that the school had a break in over the weekend. Laptops and money were taken! How and when did it happen? No one knows yet but the school was open during the weekend so that people can use the rest room inside the gymnasium during the fun day Saturday. When I got home, I called my friend right away to get in touch with the home security Starkville. She was still undecided whether to sign up at Localtv-Satellite.com for their home security but you can never be lax on safety. It is always better be safe than sorry. How could these people steal from of all places – the school! The cops even called my babysitter because she lives next to the school if she saw anything unusual last weekend but she was not able to give them any answers since she was at work that time. Hope they get all the leads and eventually catch the perpetrators soon.

Al Pacino is Historic

Contribution by Prince Raymond

Al Pacino has to be one of the greatest actors of all time, hands down. That is why you still see him in movies after his prime age. Whenever I am watching my directstartv I am constantly seeing advertisement for new movies that are coming out that are starring Al Pacino, and every time I see one I can't wait to see that movie. I would see any movie that he was in, and I would expect it to be one of the best movies I have ever seen. He is most famous for his role in the movie scar face, but there are many other great movies that he has played in as well. The Devil's Advocate and You Don't Know Jack where both great movies, and he has received many different awards throughout his career. If you want to pick out a great movie to see then choosing anything with him in it is going to be a good place to start. He has many different movies cover different interests, like mystery and drama, and almost anything that you pick is going to be great. Al Pacino is my favorite actor and he is an icon in American history.

Our Triple Play Is Almost Over

I am talking about our internet, TV and phone subscription. I know I got a good deal when I signed up to them a year ago but when the contract is done, I will be hit again with regular pricing. For some reason, being tied up in contract really worked well on me this time. I know that the TV company has already raised their prices but the new pricing does not apply on my account yet because I am in contract with them for two years. But once this is done I will be switching to satellite TV and take advantage of the better deal they are offering to customers right now. Direct TV is offering a tv package for $39.99/month with the choice ultimate package plus free starz and showtime for three months with access to 61 hd channels plus free hd dvr receiver.

When I told my husband about my plan of switching to Satellite TV, he was excited about the hd channels they offer. If you want to know more about the different Direct TV packages, you can call 1800-378-9318. This is a limited time offer so make your call as soon as possible. Do not let the good deals slip away.

Winter Break

It‘s winter break from school for my little daughter. They have a whole week off that started last Monday. Monday was President’s day so she was happy that me and hubby have no work too. Actually, it ended just me and her hanging out Monday because my husband was called at his job because of the snow. Yesterday, I brought her to my job but she got bored because we do not have a satellite TV at work where she can watch her favorite cartoon channel. So for today Wednesday I asked her where she wants to go. She told me to go to the babysitter’s house so that she can watch her shows on their satellite TV. This babysitter has been her sitter since she was months old so if there is anybody that I wanted to take care of my daughter if I am not available, it would be her babysitter. She is like a second mother to her, and her loves my daughter so much.

It is almost 3:00 o’clock p.m. and my husband is already on the way to picking up our daughter. I am just happy that our schedule works well when our daughter is not in school keeping her away from us for only around five hours if we are both working. It was tough when she was still a baby. We spent too much money on babysitting alone.

Hail Hail The Gang's All Here For New Year's Rockin Eve

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

I am so looking forward to New Year's Eve. We are having the gang over and we are going to watch Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest on satellite TV from bestchoicetv.com. We do this every year and have so much fun. Our friends come over and bring with them some of our favorite snack foods. These can be anything from chips and dip to fancy hors d'oeuvres. The thing of it is that we don't have to cook but we still have lots to eat.

The kids like to watch the ball as it moves up the pole. They spend a lot of time playing kid games and running in and out to see who will get "frozen" first. Of course, after awhile someone tells them to close the door and stay inside so that the heater will not run all night long. This just seems to have become a part of the tradition around here and they are sure to keep it going.

Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest may have changed some over the years with the changes in singing styles of the entertainers, but I still like the excitement it generates around my house.

Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Thanks to Jonathon Woods

When I asked my wife if she wanted to go to the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl with me, she told me she preferred Pizza Hut. Sorry, that was my corny little anecdote for the day. Regardless, the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl is technically a college football bowl game. Though one would never guess it to be so by name. The game happens to be played right here in Detroit, Michigan at Ford Field. I've lived right here in Detroit my whole life and never knew this game existed. I've also never heard of the two teams set to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, the Toledo Rockets and the Florida International Golden Panthers. To be frank, these two schools don't sound like real colleges. But I digress, I won the tickets via Little Caesars and their "instant win game and sweepstakes" contest.

I ended up convincing my wife to come with me. On the plus side, I won't be by myself. The downside being that now I'll have to remember to set the home alarm from www.inhomesecurity.net/adt-home-security-safety-tips.html before we depart since we'll be leaving the house unattended for three or four hours. Might not sound like much, but then you've probably never lived in Detroit. It is the day after Christmas so people should be filled with the holiday cheer, but I'm not taking any chances.

Cartoon Network Is Full Of Laughs

Content by Donny Vinson

Cartoon Network is easily one of the top childrens networks to watch on television. They have regular episodes and unique shows that differ from the other top networks. In addition to offering daytime childrens programming, they have a nighttime programming line up called Adult Swim that provides entertainment for grown ups with a desire to enjoy cartoons for a more mature audience.

In terms of the cartoons available, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Chowder are two of my favorites. While they are for kids they provide me with tons of laughs each day. Sadly, there will be no new episodes of Flapjack since it was recently canceled for future episodes.

Cartoon Network is one of the higher quality programming channels. There are always new and interesting shows. Most of them are for older children and teens, so they are more relatable than "baby" cartoons like Blues Clues or something similar.

This is my favorite channel that is only available on Cable Television Service. Without this channel available I would be considerably bored with other programming available. If you enjoy interesting and unique cartoons and other shows then http://www.cartoonnetworkhq.com/tw/signup/consent/page CN is something worth watching!

My Christmas Treat

Author: Elias Massey

Every year I look forward to the holidays come I know its time for egg-nog. Egg-nog is my all time favorite treat during the holidays. I was watching satellite tv and a I saw an advertisement for egg-nog, this advertisement put the biggest smile on my face. You wouldn't thing that something so simple could make somebody so happy. For me egg-nog just sets the tone for the holiday season.

Egg-nog also brings back several wonderful memories from my childhood. I remember sipping on egg-nog while helping my Grandma decorate Christmas cookies. My Grandma would also add a little nutmeg to my egg-nog and I thought that was the best thing ever. I am now passing on the tradition of drinking egg-nog and decorating Christmas cookies with my children.

Egg-nog is a great treat during the holidays for children and adults. You can add cinnamon or nutmeg to egg-nog and you can even drink it in coffee. Egg-nog also goes well with warm pumpkin bread. No-matter which way you choose to have your egg-nog make sure to enjoy this holiday drink while watching tv from DirectStarTV.com.

My Favorite All Time Thanksgiving Special

The Author of this post is Mae Sweet

I love spending time with friends and family during Thanksgiving. Most of my family lives within a few miles of one another. While we do try to get together here and there throughout the year, Thanksgiving is one time we all gather for food and conversation. We always get together at my house for a big feast every year. The food is great, the conversation is fun and engaging, and there are no worries that day. While Christmas has its own place, I particularly enjoy Thanksgiving because everyone settles in front of the satellite television from http://www.direct.tv/direct-tv-deals.html to catch their favorite Thanksgiving special after eating such a big meal. One TV special that we always try to find on the guide is an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati called "Turkey's Away." Mr Carlson, who most know as the station manager, really wants to do something big for Thanksgiving. So, he comes up with a really bad radio promotion idea.

He wants to drop several live turkeys from a helicopter over the city of Cincinnati thinking they will float with wings spread to the ground all over the city. The truth is they become more like turkey bombs. The best part is listening to them describe the scene over the radio. Mr Carlson signs off with this quote" As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."

Bags of holiday cheer

Guest post written by Ruby Hinson

I've never been all that great at wrapping up presents for people. No matter how much I try, I can never make the folding and the taping look neat, so most of the time I opt for using gift bags and alternative ways to wrap up gifts instead. Besides, I just think that there's something that seems a little more special about wrapping up gifts in bags, they just look like you spent a whole lot more time and thought into them.

But since I use so many bags, I make sure to reuse a lot of them and come up with ways to reuse other materials on them to freshen up, just to be thrifty and green. I like to look online to find new ways to wrap up gifts and a few nights ago when I was doing that I saw some stuff about clear tv bundle offers and decided to sign up for one of them.

But putting together a recycled gift bag isn't all that hard. I find that it looks pretty chic if you take a plain brown shopping bag and replace its paper handles with some sturdy ribbon and printed wrapping paper on the front.

My friend's book club

Guest post written by Katie Faw

When my friend told me that she was going to start a book club, I was so excited to join it! But then I heard that she was going to hold it on Wednesday nights and realized that I wouldn't be able to go. See, I teach a yoga class as a second job. I picked it up during college and kept doing it after I graduated to help pay off my student loans. But she's still sharing with me what they're reading, so I'm reading them at the same time and just not going to the meetings to discuss them.

I got my weekly email from her the other day to let me know a little summary about what they discussed at the meeting and the next book they're reading. After I saw that and looked up to see if the book was available at the library, I saw the site cleartvbundle.com and I think that I'm going to switch over my service to it.

The one that they just finished up was by writer Christopher Moore. I had never read his stuff before, but I want to read more of his books.

My TiVo

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of TiVo. All opinions are 100% mine.

The talk of the town in the Filipino community today is Charice, the Filipina sensation who was discovered on You Tube by Oprah, who is now on Glee Season 2. Her first episode was last night playing the role of an international student who auditioned as a new member of Glee. Charice performance singing the song “Listen” from Dreamgirls was outstanding. As a Filipina, it makes you proud seeing another Filipina shine on American TV. By the way, her name of Glee is Sunshine Corazon.

So I made a post on facebook to all my friends to watch out for glee tonight and see charice. A lot was not able to watch the show because of work so they have been messaging me if I recorded the show on Tivo. Of course, I did. My friends know that there is no chance for me to be watching Fall TV shows between 7-9pm because that is the dinner, homework and bedtime for my daughter. I am just happy for what my Tivo can do and with its new TiVo Premiere features. With its new interface, it makes my browsing on what TV shows to watch a lot easier. And, here is what so cool with TiVo. They also have the Slide Remote where you slide the bottom of the remote and a full QWERTY keyboard hidden underneath is out making my searches of shows so easy and fun. I feel like I am just texting on TiVo.

You don’t have TiVo yet? I am inviting you all to go to TiVo’s Facebook Fan Page to know more about their products and learn how you will never miss your favorite TV shows and movies anymore. With TiVo, you can control everything in the palm of your hands. To get your own TiVo, be sure to Enter to Win the sweepstakes “30 Slides in 30 Days” and win a new TiVo Slide. One TiVo Slide is given everyday but hurry because this contest ends soon. Good Luck!

We Made the Switch

Yesterday, I signed back to optimum from Verizon fios. I have no complaints with Verizon fios service but their charges and fees are ridiculously high. My bill for fios is about $190 every month for TV, internet, and phone plus international calling for $10, tfc and tennis channel including taxes and fees & charges I cannot understand where they are coming from. I just waited for our contract with Verizon to end but actually optimum does not care even though you terminate your current contract with Verizon early. Optimum will buy you out by paying the termination or cancelation fee Verizon will charge you. This is what they call the buyout contract. You have to show your bill though that you paid for the termination fee to get a refund up to $200.

Now with Optimum, I will be paying only $100/mo for TV, internet and phone with free dvr & tfc for a year (a $14.95 value) and sports package (tennis channel) including taxes. Optimum does not give a free router so I have to buy that but with the savings of almost $85/month I don’t mind buying my own router to have wireless at home. I saw one at best buy weekly ad for $34.99 for a netgear.

The actual switch is this Friday when the optimum guys come to the house to do the connection. I was originally with optimum but went to Verizon when they had tfc and now I’m back with them.

Horizontal Lines on Plasma TV

We have a sony bravia at home and for the past week we noticed some horizontal lines across the screen. We pay no mind as it disappears after few minutes of watching TV. It happens when you first turn on the tv. Now for the past days, more thin fine lines are coming out and sometimes you cannot see the picture anymore. It is like a blank blue screen with plaid colored design on it. You can still hear the sound though. We cannot watch anything so we just turned it off. Few minutes later, my husband turned it back on and the lines were gone. Fine again but not permanently. We still get the lines every now and then. My husband was saying maybe it’s time to change the bulb…..like what bulb???? Is this a plasma defect or a symptom of trash the tv/spend a lot of money for repair thing?!!
This TV is more than a year old. If I remember we bought it from Costco sometime August or September last year.

Anybody had this problem with their tv?

Anytime Movies At Charter On Demand

Ondemand

Thank god it’s Friday. It has been a very busy week for me. I thought I can come home early and pick up my daughter from school today but I just cannot leave my work unfinished. I had to stay a little bit late. I have no plans this weekend except to go food shopping. Other than that I just want to rest and do a movie marathon. I already missed a lot of shows this week.

I am so happy that we switched to Charter digital. The charter on demand has saved us a lot of money. First, I canceled my movie rentals through mail and no more trips to the local movie store nearby. With the on demand, I can watch my missed shows anytime I want to. And, it is for free. Now I don’t have to adjust to the TV schedule because I can watch my favorite TV shows during my own free time. This will also eliminate the conflict among my husband, me and our daughter as to what show to watch on TV.

This weekend I will also check my Facebook page and be a fan of Charter. By becoming a fan I would be able to
get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page. If you do not have a facebook account, you can still learn more at charter.net/ondemand.

Have you switched to Charter yet? Do it now and enjoy the fun.
