New Printer

I know it was just a few days ago when I was talking about my own personal printer at the office. When I got to work this morning, I saw a huge machine next to the receptionist desk. When I asked my co-workers about it, they said it’s a new copy machine for everybody. It’s not an ordinary copy machine but it can also staple copies and send the copies made to an email. It can make both black and color copies. I wonder if Superfineprinting uses this type of machine too?

It is about time that we get this kind of machine. With the load of brochure printing we do every month, the personal printers cannot handle the job anymore. This will become a central copy machine for the whole office. Everybody can send their jobs remotely and this machine will print it. I will still be using my personal printer for memos and letters that are not meant to be read or seen by everybody like correspondence or letters that are personal and confidential for my boss.

When will be this up and running? I do not know yet. They are looking for a good spot in the office where there is a phone line for the email to work. I tried reading the manual but it is too many to learn. Maybe a quicker way to educate us on how to operate this machine is by product demo from the dealer. My foremost concern for now is how to make copies but the complicated ones I leave it to our receptionist to learn. I just heard somebody saying it looks like an alien. That is too funny.

Needs Upgrade

How I wish they upgrade our server to the litespeed technology that is being offered by Ultra web Hosting. Every time that it is month end, we always experience a slower website due to heavy usage. This is usually the problem when the last two days of the month falls on a weekend. Reports, invoices and statements are being done only today and with the load from three branches, we need faster processors to handle the job.

Ultra Web Hosting runs on the fast LiteSpeed Technology hosting on 8-core Xeon with faster loading websites and servers that they own and operate. They offer free remote backups and on site technicians to assist customers and do troubleshooting if you encounter problems. With their live support available all the time, you can get help right away, not just talking to a machine when you need assistance. With regards to pricing, they have servers with the most competitive pricing and if you are not satisfied with the service, you have 45 days to try or get refunded on your hosting charges. Check out the deals offer by visiting http://ultrawebsitehosting.com for easy account set up or for more information of the services they can offer you or to your company.

Our Triple Play Is Almost Over

I am talking about our internet, TV and phone subscription. I know I got a good deal when I signed up to them a year ago but when the contract is done, I will be hit again with regular pricing. For some reason, being tied up in contract really worked well on me this time. I know that the TV company has already raised their prices but the new pricing does not apply on my account yet because I am in contract with them for two years. But once this is done I will be switching to satellite TV and take advantage of the better deal they are offering to customers right now. Direct TV is offering a tv package for $39.99/month with the choice ultimate package plus free starz and showtime for three months with access to 61 hd channels plus free hd dvr receiver.

When I told my husband about my plan of switching to Satellite TV, he was excited about the hd channels they offer. If you want to know more about the different Direct TV packages, you can call 1800-378-9318. This is a limited time offer so make your call as soon as possible. Do not let the good deals slip away.

Broken Notebook

Two weeks ago after my laptop stopped working, I finally made it to the computer repair shop last Sunday. The guy said that my laptop's motherboard is bad and the cost of having it repaired is around $300. What! I can buy a brand new laptop with that!

I have videos and photos in my laptop's hard drive. I am still hoping that I can save those. If I can download them to a usb adapter, I can go to DVD duplicators to have it copied. Then, all of a sudden I thought of just getting a dvd duplicator but when i was reading the dvd duplication guide, it seems that it is unreasonable if its only for personal use. Because of this, I learned my lesson. Next time, I will make sure that all videos and photos are copied on cd's and dvd's to be on the safe side. I have found cheaper cd printers so that i can label them individually.

I am still debating whether to get a netbook or notebook. Whichever i decide to buy next, i have to make sure that i buy the protection plan to save me from high repair cost or maybe a free replacement.

Web Filter

Few weeks ago, they installed Anti Keylogger Software in our work computer and now, there is a web filter. The anti keylogger is for the security of your computer from hackers and viruses. This is a work computer and we are inputting customer’s information, addresses and credit card numbers so we need to make our computer secure and safe. Now, this web filter is more on employees who spend a lot of time doing personal things online. They got rid of websites according to different categories. There is no more shopping, social networking, games and entertainment websites that you can access. If you try to access these websites, you will get a message that it is inappropriate. Good thing, they left news and banking categories.

Another new for this year at my workplace is the CCTV Pro Cameras installed around the building and inside the warehouse. We have been victimized by customers who walked away with some expensive units. My boss hopes that with the cameras in place, it will somehow minimize theft in the company. They are now installed in places where faces of customers are visible from the counter to the parking lot. I wonder what's next to be installed in the coming months.

My House Project

Our niece that used to occupy one bedroom in our house left for Philippines the day after thanksgiving. My daughter is a bit sad because it’s back to only the three of us in the house again. I don’t know how you call it but every time somebody leaves (I have done this when the two step daughters moved out – one to college and the other one got married), I want a revamp of the room where they used to occupy. This time, I want my daughter to use the bigger room, the room the niece used to occupy so that I can make her old bedroom an office or computer room. I know it is a lot of work but I am so determined to do it. First, I have to get rid of all those vhs videos stored under her bed. I need a video converter for this. It has to be a video converter for Mac. I haven’t seen any at the local electronics store but probably I can but it online or on eBay. If there is an iPad Video Converter available, I‘ll buy it too and maybe I can get free shipping for both. I don’t want to toss any of these videos because they have so much of our yesteryears, those days when my daughter was still a baby. Those are beautiful memories that you just want to keep.

Hope I would be able to finish my project before her birthday on the 18th. Once I have converted all the videos, we can watch them during her party. Let us see how my daughter reacts seeing herself as a baby on video.

Making of Our Company Website

Our receptionist is out again today. This is the second day that she has been calling out sick. The only problem when she is out is that all phone inquiries bounce back to my office that sometimes I cannot even pick it up. My phone is also busy with inquiries from the web hosting company that we just hired for our company website. We answered our customer requests to have our own website so that they can view our products and catalogs. They are tired of receiving our flyers in the mail. Now that we have our website up and running, we felt the need of getting an IT person exclusively to run the website but I suggested to my boss that we just get the managed hosting services being offered by the hosting company. Since we do not really have somebody dedicated to run our website, it is better to leave it at the hands of the experts to monitor our servers, updating and make back ups. The webhosting company even offers colocation if we decide all our servers be brought to their facility and we do not have to worry about anything.

I do not really know how my boss is coping to this technology change. He is used in running his business for how many decades without any computers. He is willing and eager to learn. I guess that is all that matters.

My friend's book club

Guest post written by Katie Faw

When my friend told me that she was going to start a book club, I was so excited to join it! But then I heard that she was going to hold it on Wednesday nights and realized that I wouldn't be able to go. See, I teach a yoga class as a second job. I picked it up during college and kept doing it after I graduated to help pay off my student loans. But she's still sharing with me what they're reading, so I'm reading them at the same time and just not going to the meetings to discuss them.

I got my weekly email from her the other day to let me know a little summary about what they discussed at the meeting and the next book they're reading. After I saw that and looked up to see if the book was available at the library, I saw the site cleartvbundle.com and I think that I'm going to switch over my service to it.

The one that they just finished up was by writer Christopher Moore. I had never read his stuff before, but I want to read more of his books.

Horizontal Lines on Plasma TV

We have a sony bravia at home and for the past week we noticed some horizontal lines across the screen. We pay no mind as it disappears after few minutes of watching TV. It happens when you first turn on the tv. Now for the past days, more thin fine lines are coming out and sometimes you cannot see the picture anymore. It is like a blank blue screen with plaid colored design on it. You can still hear the sound though. We cannot watch anything so we just turned it off. Few minutes later, my husband turned it back on and the lines were gone. Fine again but not permanently. We still get the lines every now and then. My husband was saying maybe it’s time to change the bulb…..like what bulb???? Is this a plasma defect or a symptom of trash the tv/spend a lot of money for repair thing?!!
This TV is more than a year old. If I remember we bought it from Costco sometime August or September last year.

Anybody had this problem with their tv?

Translia

I work in a company that deals with clients around the world. All our correspondence is made in English but there are still instances that we need the services of a professional translator. I am happy to say that having different languages has never been a problem to our business relationship. All our business card translation is done through translia.com, the world’s largest professional translator network. We get all our job translation from/to any major language at the fastest time. Pricing is very reasonable and sometimes we even get it for free. Most importantly, their jobs are 100% client satisfaction guarantee. If you are not fully satisfied with their job, you do not pay for it.

Plastic Cars Of Tomorrow

I have been driving since I was 15 years old or even younger. I have driven a lot of cars but none of them is made of plastic. To me, when you say plastic cars, you are talking about toy cars that our kids love. But what can you say that is it nor impossible if we will be seeing or diving Plastic Cars in the near future?

There is a senior thesis project made by students from Center for Creative College where they made concept cars utilizing plastics for exterior and interior designs. This study was sponsored by the Plastics Division of the American Chemistry Council in conjunction with the SPE Automotive Division. The final design for their concept cars was done December of 2004. If you may ask, why plastic? During the presentation of the concept cars, the students said that plastics are more durable, lightweight, can be cleaned easily, has refined toughness, stylish and more importantly are the environmental benefits. There are more information provided to you about these cars of the future at their website plastics-car.org.

If you have no idea how plastics can be used to make cars, you have to watch this video called “Cars of Tomorrow” made by the Center for Creative College students.

Checking Iphone 3Gs Again

We went to the Apple Store again last July 4th to check the availability of the iphone 3Gs at the store. Still, the 16GB is out of stock but they have the 32GB available. To buy the 32GB instead would seem to be expensive for $299. That is already a price for two iphones: one 16GB 3Gs and one 3G. Apple rep just gave us a business card instructing us to give them a call to check availability. Hubby can wait. He still has his two year old Iphone (first generation). In the meantime, hubby checked their display while my daughter enjoyed playing games.

Bring To Life With Charter

1

I was cleaning my computer table over the weekend and I found phone cards, some are even unused but pass the expiration date. I already forget that I have bought those phone cards since I have not been using them anymore. This is the effect of embracing digital technology into our lives. I used to call my family back in the Philippines by using a phone card but this stopped when we subscribed to Charter Communications. Charter Communications is one of the leading providers of high speed internet, digital cable and phone services.

Since we have Charter, I keep in touch with my family using the internet. Almost every day we exchange video and instant messaging using Charter’s high speed internet service. Another worth noticing too is that we have not been to a movie theater for how many months now. Our movie nights are brought to life with Charter movies on demand. It is more fun and relaxing to watch your favorite movies at home with your family and kids without having to fight for parking.

As a way of thanking its valuable and loyal customers, Charter is once again sponsoring a contest by simply submitting your story on how you bring your home to life. For this contest, Charter is giving away each week either a 15” laptop and at the end of the promotion which is on July 31st, one lucky customer will win a package of one 52” HDTV, a laptop and free one year of Charter Bundle including Digital Cable with HD and DVR, Charter high-speed internet and Charter phone services. This is not the first time that Charter is giving away big prizes to customers to its online contests. Last year, they also gave away laptops, Xbox 360 game systems and one 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid.
It is just getting better and better each year. To keep yourself updated always, follow
Charter on Facebook. Hurry and submit your stories at charter.com/yourlife and win any of these fabulous prizes.

The New Iphone 3Gs

The new iphone 3gs became available in the market last friday, june 19th. We went to the apple store inside the mall and found this line. It was not bad, we thought. But, do they still have the new iphone? First we went to the end of the line and I asked the apple guy outside if they still have iphones available. None. Nada. What is the line for? He said, for all other things!

If you want the new iphone 3gs, just go online.

Looking For The Best Web Host?

I got an email from the host company for one of my websites reminding me that it is expiring this coming June 11th. I could not believe that it has been a year now. I still undecided if I want to renew my contract for another year. I had few problems with them when I started, although minimal but it just took too much of my time calling their technical support group.

I went to webhostinggeeks.com comparing the different web hosting companies available. Web Hosting Geeks give you a comparison of what services each web host company can offer to their customers. They show comparison according to space, monthly fee, technical support, how many free domains and a lot more. There are hundreds of web hosts but web hosting geeks did the homework for you, saving you time looking for the best available one. Are you familiar with eco-friendly web hosts? Well, they are web hosting companies that use alternative energy, plant trees, recycling waste and purchase RECs to power their datacenters. There are seven top
green web hosting companies available for your needs. Also, take time to read the reviews written by customers as they are all based on their experiences and personal reviews. So before signing for a web hosts, visit webhostinggeeks.com as a helpful guide to your decision. This is what I am doing right now before I decide to renew my contract with my current web host.
