Food @ Disney World

It is not that bad. I'm referring to prices and also food like hot dogs and fries. We did not eat inside a restaurant so i cannot compare but with these hot dog, fries and soda combo, it was only around $10. Not bad at all. We also some have ice cream for around the same price. I could say food prices are reasonable inside disney world.

I found this at the korean store where we buy our fish and some filipino groceries. First time to see a ripe jackfruit on display. Sometimes they also have durian fruit from bangkok but frozen.
A slice of this jackfruit is around $5 to $6 each.

I miss you jack!

Two kinds of white pasta, first one is spicy with clam shells with olive oil and the second one is not spicy with mushrooms and zuchini with creamy white sauce. We had this for lunch last saturday. Both yummy but i like the spicy one better.

Can You Buy A Home Even With Bad Credit?

One thing that has been instilled in my mind when I arrived here in the U.S. is the importance of having a good credit. To have an outstanding credit score, you start building by paying your bills on time and do not over borrow. Your credit is very important when you are applying for a loan and the interest rate depends on how good or bad your credit is.

So what happens if you have a bad credit and you want to buy a home? Of course, when you have an outstanding credit history, the approval rate is higher but it does not mean you cannot be approved at all if you have a bad credit. There are companies like advantagehomerates.com that specializes in helping people who are trying to get a loan but with not so good credit standing. They can also help you on your construction loans, bailouts, loans with only 3% down, refinancing, loans for self-employed people, first time buyers and a lot more. If you are interested and to help you better with your inquiries, you can contact them or fill out a mortgage inquiry application form on their website (advantagehomerates.com). Good luck on your future home.

Health Insurance

Both I and the husband have our personal healthcare insurance through our own employers. I have mine since I was single so with hubby. Now that we are married, I remained with my job’s medical insurance into which I also enrolled Isabella. It was going smoothly until my company increased our premium to more than double to what I am paying. This made me decide to give up the insurance through my employer and we both enrolled under my husband’s employer as a family. I thought I was the only one who got affected by the tremendous increase in medical insurance at my job but a lot. They have been searching also for discount medical insurance policies available just to save money on the premium. Whatever results they get, they compare what different companies offer to get the best health insurance quotes possible.h
We know how expensive to get sick if you do not have an insurance. My co-workers are still in the process of picking the right one. They have two weeks left before the new insurance at my job would take effect. If they do not find a better alternative, a lot would be left with no choice but take the expensive one.

Sunday Lunch

It was the day for pilipino food shopping. We went to a strip mall here in Jersey where you can find a fil. store, bakery that sells/makes pandesal, lechon and kakanin, an lbc, fil restaurant, salon and a vietnamese restaurant. Parking is quite full on weekends especially sundays. After we bought fish, rice, veggies, spices at the fil. store we went to eat at the vietnamese restaurant. The outside of this restaurant is not really appealing but the food is great and cheap. It is always pack and people had to wait for their tables.

I'm stuffed.

Lunch special for me. Grilled chicken over rice.

This is hubby's. A vietnamese soup with clear noodles, beef, shrimps and crab meat. I forgot the exact name but i know what number it is on its menu.

For the daughter, she had sauteed beef cubes with vegetables.

People-watching

This guest post from Edgardo Rosa

People-watching has got to be the best part about traveling. I realize that it’s a total waste of time, but there is nothing better than getting to the airport in time to park, get through security and sit down at the bar nearest to your gate for a good dose of America’s finest. Since I don’t travel weekly for work, it’s always a gamble which bar I will be parked at, since I never remember which belongs to each individual concourse between trips. Today, it was a seafood restaurant. I pulled up a seat at the bar, ordered a drink and look around to see what was on Directv. Now, call me crazy, but I would be a little sketched out by eating seafood in an airport. Maybe if the airport were in a seaside city, such as Miami or Tampa, but never anywhere inland. Nevertheless, as I look around, I see many travelers ordering from the menu that could easily pass for a novella. I think I’ll stick with my gin and tonic.

Shopping Again

Two weeks after school opened, I found the note the school gave out regarding the proper color of socks the kids can wear with their uniforms. I already bought a lot of socks for her in colors that she likes but nothing in the allowed colors by the school. Some of those socks were already worn but those that are still in packages, I have to return them. I wish I can only make an exchange but they do not have the colors I need.

So I went to my favorite online store to purchase them. I can only get free shipping if I order at least $100 worth of items which gave me a reason to shop for more but I was very good. There is really nothing more that I need but I saw the wide calf boots that my friend was eyeing so I immediately called her if she is still interested. I gave her the website link to view the boots and right away she told me to get it for her. She was also happy for saving some money on the free shipping. Now my friend is more excited than my daughter. She cannot wait for her boots to arrive. I bet you, she will be wearing them right away even if it is not winter time yet.

Denny's Is Breakfast And More

Would you believe that we don't have a Denny's here in North Jersey. There was one before but they closed the branch so every time we see a Denny's in area we always grab the chance to eat. We like Denny's anytime of the day, not just for breakfast. We were so happy when we saw one in Orlando.

This was our breakfast on the first morning after we arrived.

A kid's meal for my daughter. Pancakes, eggs and bacon.

Hubby got his favorite - the Lumberjack Slam. Pancakes, grilled ham, bacon strips, sausage links, two eggs, hash brown or toasted bread.

And this is what i got - the French Toast Slam, two slices of thick french toast, two eggs, bacon strips and sausage links. I don't like sausage links so i requested for all bacon.

9/11

I was very emotional yesterday while watching the televised Ground Zero memorial ceremonies of the September 11, 2001 attack of the World Trade Center which was held at the new memorial plaza. The memorial spot has cascading waterfalls where the names of those of died during the attack were engraved. This year is the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks which resulted in the deaths of almost 2900 people. All of a sudden I had a flashback of the exact time 10 years ago. I was just 15 miles south of New York City and from the Jersey side, we saw the two towers burning with black smoke coming from the building. I could not believe it was happening.

Last night, we were also watching a film shot by two journalists who happened to be at a firehouse near the World Trade Center doing a documentary on a life of a rookie fire fighter. They showed footages from the time the fire fighters went to Tower 1 after it was hit by a plane up to the time they all went back to the firehouse hours after the two towers collapsed. Lower Manhattan was covered with dust so with the people who were running away, some of them have no idea of what is happening at that moment. All the offices, stores, buildings and hotels in Manhattan were abandoned. The two journalists were at the right time and right place to capture everything that happened during the 9/11. They all survived the attack to tell their most unforgettable film adventure so with all the fire fighters on that firehouse.

How Do Your Call Your Country?

When we signed up for our phone service at home, the company also offered international calling where you can call anywhere in the world through your home phone. You get 300 minutes for a flat rate of $20.00 but the only downside is that whether you use the minutes or not every month, you have to pay the monthly fee. This set up was ongoing for months then i realized we do not make international calls that much every month. It seems that we are paying minutes that we did not even use. Sometimes not even half of the monthly minutes allowed have been used. I told my husband about that and we decided to give up the monthly international calling plan. All we need is a low cost international calling to the Philippines where the minutes do not expire every month.

I searched online on how to make low cost international calls through your cell phone without paying too much money and i found Pure Minutes Long distance. With Pure Minutes I can call my country anytime anywhere just like calling my friends through my cell phone. There are no hidden fees, I pay only for the minutes i used and the unused minutes do not expire. I like pure minutes a lot. I do not have to be home to call Philippines. I also signed up for the auto-recharge to get $3.00 free service. Try Pure Minutes and you will like it right away.

Saturday Work

I got a phone call early morning from our office manager asking me if i can go to work. We were closed Friday due to some road closures in the area where my job is located. Today the town opened for all businesses but a lot of the residents were still at the evacuation area. This is already the third time this year that this area has been hit by a big flood. The recent has the most widespread damage. It was only two weeks ago that the hurricane Irene was here and here is another flood again. On my way to work, I saw on the sidewalk broken appliances, wet carpets, wood panels and boxes of clothes waiting to be picked up by the town trucks for disposal. My husband was even asked by his friend to order parts for dryer to be used in his machine that got submerged at the basement. Hubby knows a little about fixing washing machines and dryers. He used to have a shop back home before he migrated here and that was his way of living. He is not doing it for money here anymore but when friends call him, he is always willing to do it as long they are not the newer models which are all computerized. It is his joy to help his friends because he knows how expensive to have it repaired here. Usually the labor is more expensive than the parts.

Big Savings With TracFone

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TracFone for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I want to share with you how I got so much savings I got by just switching to TracFone. Every month, I spend around $150 for my cell phone bill for the three of us. I am done with the two year contract and I am just paying for the minutes that I do not really use so I talked to my husband if TracFone is a wiser alternative. When he saw what benefits we can get from TracFone (which are actually the same with our contract phone) he right away said yes.

Here is what TracFone can offer. First, you are not committed to any two year contract. There are no credit checks and no activation or cancelation fees. This is a lot of savings already with great nationwide coverage and excellent reception/connectivity. Their phones are from branded manufacturers also like Motorola, Kyocera, LG, Nokia and Samsung. They have “candy bar” phones or simple phones that can do calling and texting for under $10.00 of the Bluetooth-enabled “Smart” phones  packed with So many features features like camera/video recorder, web access, app capabilities, mp3 player and full QWERTY keyboard for $29.99.

The best part of being one of the Real TracFone customers is the service plans. There is a monthly plan where you pay as you go online or with cards available at thousands of retail stores across the country. There is also a one year service cards which can give you so much more. You can receive double minutes for the life of your Tracfone and 800 minutes for only $119.00. “Double minutes for the life of your phone” is a feature that can be purchased separately for only $19.99 but some phones include it. If you want the month plan, you can choose the 200 minutes for under $30.00 and as low as $9.99 for 50 minutes.

Do you that you can also call international with your TracFone? This is the only wireless service where you can call internationally for the same price as any other call. You can call over 60 international destinations from your TracFone at no extra cost and through the International Neighbors program, you can also provide your family and friends in Mexico or Canada a local phone number in those countries to reach you at your own TracFone in the U.S.

Make the switch now and get that savings in your pocket.

Meet You In Chicago?

This is an overdue travel plan. My husband has a friend In Chicago whom he has not seen for decades now. He was surprised when one day he just got a call from him, not from Philippines but from Chicago. He is here visiting for about a month.

We made plans of driving to Chicago to see him the weekend when hurricane Irene hit the East Coast. The plan was canceled because of bad weather then the following weekend we were already set to see the U.S. Open so we had no choice but to reschedule it or maybe we can just ask his friend to come here instead so that we can tour him around New York City. He already saw Chicago via the Chicago bus tours together with other Filipino tourist in their community. They did the Highlight, City in a Garden and Stained Glass tours through Pontarelli Worldwide Ground Transportation. We saw the pictures he posted at the social networking site where he left a comment that it is time to see New York after his Chicago tour.

I hope my husband can get his two day off approved so that we can finalize his friend's trip here. Our target date is on September 15-18. I hope this will push through this time. We will post pictures right away.

Guess What I'm Cooking Tonight?

I have the string beans from my daughter's baby sitter's garden then the eggplants and bittermelons (ampalaya) from hubby's tennis partner, then I will just add some squash and shrimps that i have from the refrigerator and I am all set for pinakbet tonight. I used to put pork but i switched to shrimps as per hubby's request and he also does not like okra so i had to make changes. All is well, still the good old pinakbet that i used to love.
