Hoboken

Last night, I and the husband were watching a home and garden show where two cousins did a kitchen makeover in the home of a restaurant owner in Hoboken, New Jersey. Of course we know where Hoboken is and how beautiful is that town. If you have visitors coming over to see New York or New Jersey, you have to bring them to Hoboken to see the view of NYC across the river. It is a beautiful town to walk around, dine and go clubbing.

On that show we were watching last night, some parts of Hoboken were also featured. We right away missed the place. Last time we were there was about four years ago. We want to go again when the weather gets warmer to try Café Michelina, a casual Italian restaurant located on 423 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken. I already downloaded the cafe Michelina menu so I know what to order before we even get there. By the way, they also deliver and you can order your food online at cafemichelina.com. If you live in the area and happens to be in the mood for Chinese food, Precious Hoboken NJ located at 128 Washington St #1 is very accessible for takeout and delivery orders. They are open seven days a week and closes late at 10:30 p.m. Thanks for the local SEO in NJ, making our internet search so easy.

It is about time we should be back in Hoboken. See you soon.

Friday at Fridays

It used to be Fridays every TGIF but we have not been going that often anymore. Those were the days when we were still not watching what we eat and counting on cholesterol. lol. But, last night was a treat, to save me from not cooking and rest early for hubby because he is going to work at midnight.

Daughter had the classic buffalo wings. It was not spicy for her at all. Served with celery and blu cheese.

I had this Bruschetta Chicken Pasta made of muti grain angel hair pasta with bruschetta marinara, garlic basil and tomatoes topped with sliced grilled chicken. The black sauce is balsamic glazed with some parmesan cheese. This is a healthy dish, so filling and the grilled chicken alone can make you full.

Hubby had fridays burger made of 100% angus beef with sides of french fries

Sunday Lunch

It was the day for pilipino food shopping. We went to a strip mall here in Jersey where you can find a fil. store, bakery that sells/makes pandesal, lechon and kakanin, an lbc, fil restaurant, salon and a vietnamese restaurant. Parking is quite full on weekends especially sundays. After we bought fish, rice, veggies, spices at the fil. store we went to eat at the vietnamese restaurant. The outside of this restaurant is not really appealing but the food is great and cheap. It is always pack and people had to wait for their tables.

I'm stuffed.

Lunch special for me. Grilled chicken over rice.

This is hubby's. A vietnamese soup with clear noodles, beef, shrimps and crab meat. I forgot the exact name but i know what number it is on its menu.

For the daughter, she had sauteed beef cubes with vegetables.

Denny's Is Breakfast And More

Would you believe that we don't have a Denny's here in North Jersey. There was one before but they closed the branch so every time we see a Denny's in area we always grab the chance to eat. We like Denny's anytime of the day, not just for breakfast. We were so happy when we saw one in Orlando.

This was our breakfast on the first morning after we arrived.

A kid's meal for my daughter. Pancakes, eggs and bacon.

Hubby got his favorite - the Lumberjack Slam. Pancakes, grilled ham, bacon strips, sausage links, two eggs, hash brown or toasted bread.

And this is what i got - the French Toast Slam, two slices of thick french toast, two eggs, bacon strips and sausage links. I don't like sausage links so i requested for all bacon.

$12.99 Meal @ Fridays

I think the $12.99 meal deal on Fridays is back. You get a choice of appetizer from their menu, main course or dinner meal and dessert for $12.99. We have not been back there yet but this is what I had the last time they had this deal. I had garden salad as appetizer, fridays shrimp as my main dish and brownie obsession for my dessert.

When we went to max restaurant recently, i skipped the salo at gulaman for a change. I got this halo-halo instead for dessert. It was perfect after a tennis game on a hot and humid day. Yummy halo-halo!

(Fried) Food At Max

I don't know if we went on a wrong day but on the day we went to Max, the lady told us while we were waiting for our table that we can only order food that are fried - meaning no pancit, fresh lumpia or kare-kare (my favorite), etc. They run out of the others because there were too many diners. So, what are we gonna do, right? We already drove 10 miles to eat at Max so just make the most out of it.

This is a mix of the calamare and lumpiang shanghai. It is good. We had one to go of this too.

If you go to Max, you gotta have the chicken. This he whole max fried chicken with garlic fried rice. I was a bit disappointed because i was looking for the manila max taste chicken - the crispy chicken to the bones. Only the skin was crispy. Hubby said next time we should tell them to fry it crispy. Still, we had another of this to go. So what else is fried....the lechon kawali? but we are trying to avoid pork so we did not order that.

For our drinks, we had the sago at gulaman.

p.s. i re-fried the chicken that we had to go and it was yummier, better than what we had at the restaurant.

Got this email from Charlie Brown that their shrimpfest is on again. Because this family loves seafoods so much, shrimpfest is one of our favorite deals at CB. To top it all, they are also offering a $5 off coupon for a purchase of $20.

Finally, We Have One in NJ

Yes, Max Fried Chicken is here in NJ. It is called Max of Manila, along Newark Avenue in Jersey City, same street as Red Ribbon Bakeshop. Max opened late last year and has been packed with diners (pinoys and non-pinoys) almost always. I'll share our Max experience on my next post.

1/2 Off At Applebees

I was already in my pj/sweat pants last night when hubby came home from tennis. He was hungry. Normally, on fridays, after tennis, he would have a bowl of soup or cup noodles. But last night, he was probably so so hungry that he wanted to go to Applebees. Sure! We haven't been there for quite a while. The place was still packed around 10:30 pm. We even saw the stepdaughters and the kids.

What's the deal at Applebees? All appetizers are 50% off after 10 pm everyday.

The lady said the waiting is around 25-30 minutes but we were called after 5 minutes. Maybe because there's only 3 of us. Hubby had the buffalo chicken (mild), I had the chicken quesadillas and the daughter had mozarella sticks plus iced tea unsweetened.

Our bill $16.05!

Craving For Smash

I thought we would be able to make it to Smash burger before the snows starts to fall. On our way, hubby was called by his job to report for work. He needs to be at his job when it snows. We just have to make another trip next time. I want this burger with french fries.

I saw this at my inbox today. I think Charlie Brown is so sweet to send this to its loyal customers. Hubby and I are one of your loyal customers. Although we will surely miss you at one location but it doesn't mean we will be seeing you less often. Can we see you Saturday night?

Thanks CB.
