It's Halloween

We are all set for this day. We have our goodies to give out to the kids that will come over. That will be husband's duty while me and my little girl will go trick or treating. My daughter has her witch princess costume.
Be careful when you do trick or treating. We are happy because we are going to have a nice weather today. Thank God, it's not white halloween.
Happy Halloween to All!

The Monster 64GB Flash Drive

The laptop that I am using at home is an old one with only 30GB hard drive. It is almost full and it has affected the speed of the laptop so I bought from Kanguru Solutions website a 64GB Kanguru Flash blu, one of the largest capacity flash drive on the market today where I can transfer all my files, music and photos. It is so handy just like the size of a pack of gum that I can carry it anywhere. Its aluminum housing protects it from being damaged so it’s safe to put it in your purse or pocket. It is packed with several features such as mobile email, no trace browsing and synchronization.

I am so happy with my purchase from Kanguru Solutions website. They also manufacture other computer storage devices such as memory cards, hard drives, cd/dvdrw drives, usb duplicators and a lot more accessories. Always keep them in mind when you need something for your computers.

Top 7 Countries Tag

As we celebrate the United Nations this month of October, I’d like to start this chain of the top 7 countries I like or admire the most. The list below is based on the places that I already been travelled and want to visit someday.

Thanks lis for this tag. I more than seven countries on my list but I will just pick 7 out of the many. I have visited some of them but I still want to go back there. Here is my list:

1. Philippines – of course, who does want to come home to Philippines? As the song goes…”manila, manila..i keep coming back to manila..simply no place like manila…”
2. USA – this is my home. After a vacation or travel, it still nice to be back home.
3. HongKong – this is first country I visited outside Philippines. Wow, that was back in 1997. I went on a tour then we made a side trip to China. I want to see HK again.
4. U.A.E. – to buy jewelries. Kidding. My youngest brother is there so with my first cousin and her daughter. I want to visit them.
5. England – this is in the planning stage. I and hubby want to see the Wimbledon.
6. France – and also the French Open at the Roland Garros stadium. Go to Lourdes and see the beautiful city of Paris.
7. Australia – hubby lived in this country for a couple of years. He still has friends there that he wants to visit. Hope we can go there around January in time for the Australian Open.

Sorry I got carried away doing this tag. I like it that’s why.

Now it’s your turn guys: rosilie, pchi, 4ever7, leomarsden, vicy and ylan.
Enjoy!

I Love Birds

When I was still living in the Philippines, we have a tree right by my bedroom window. I wake up every morning with birds making their sounds up the tree. It is their wake up time too. The whole day they are out but once the sun goes down they whole flock will come home on that same tree. You will hear the same noise then it gets quite. You know that they are already sleeping when they stop making noise. I got so fascinated with birds that my mom has bought 4 lovebirds and a birdcage for me. I love feeding them through the makeshift feeder that my brother has made. He has placed two long water hoses that extends outside the birdcage where I can put the bird seeds and water. This way I do not waste their food because it shoots right on their platter. This is the primitive way of feeding birds. I wish we had one of those beautiful birdfeeders that are available on birdfeeders.com. This one is my pick:

It is called Birdscapes Garden Sip and Seed birdfeeder. It allows you to provide your birds with food and water. It can handle up to 1.15 lbs. of seeds and 27 oz. of water. I like the simple but elegant double silo design and it is made of durable plastic and antiqued copper finish. Now I am thinking of having birds in our backyard come spring time so that my daughter will have fun feeding them. I am very sure she would love to have birds at home.

Chewy Tamarind Candy

I saw this tiny candy container at a Filipino store nearby. I got excited when I look closely – its sampalok! I remember those that are wrapped in transparent orange cellophane. Sosi na s’ya ngayon. I checked the label to make sure it’s not made from china. It says product of Thailand. It’s good with the bit of sourness that tickles you. The price is $1.09.

Promises Treatment Center

I was just talking to my best friend in high school. She was crying on the phone telling me about his brother’s fate. He has been hooked on to drugs since he lost his girlfriend two years ago. Now, they have decided to put him in the best drug rehab center in West Los Angeles to save him from getting worst and be treated. My friend misses her brother so much that she cannot hide her emotions every time you ask about her brother’s situation. Her family has trusted Promises Treatment Center in his drug treatment with high hopes that one day he will be home with them again renewed and clean.

Ugly Betty vs. the Mean Girl

Lindsay Lohan is supposed to do 6 guest episodes on Ugly Betty. Because the pair did not go along well on the set of Ugly Betty, Lindsay’s six episodes were cut to four. It has been reported that there was too much tension and drama during the shooting; complaints about Lohan’s diva-like attitude like the much reported Lindsay being underwear less when she was being pantsed in one episode. Complaints also about her entourage, her non-stop smoking and her mess. Let’s wait and see how the real episodes are when they show them on tv.

Gas Prices

I am so happy seeing gas prices going down. The lowest I saw was $2.46 other than costco who was selling it at $2.45 a gallon. Costco for me is an exception because you have to be a costco member to get gas from them. I saw the line, Whew! One thing I have observed, there are more cars on the road these days; so with the big trucks and SUV’s. It is going down as fast as it went up for the past months. Please stay that way. I will be very glad to see the 2 will be changed to 1.

Meet Joe The Plummer

For the past week, I have heard a lot about Joe the Plummer. I do not follow the election campaign but yesterday while we were reading the Sunday paper at Panera bread during a bagel breakfast, papa showed to me two articles about Joe the Plummer. So here is the little that I know of Joe the plumber.

He is Joe Wurzelbacher of Ohio, a plumber, who wants to buy the plumbing business that currently employs him. He got the chance to speak with Sen. Barack Obama during one of his campaign appearance in Toledo, Ohio. Joe the Plummer asked told Obama of his plan of buying a plumbing business but with his tax plan it seems that he would be paying much higher taxes. Instantly, this became a battle cry against Obama by the opponent (McCain’s) especially during the third presidential debate.

Joe the Plummer became an instant star and even all the joe the plumbers who are really not Joe Wurzelbacher. One Joe (Joe Francis of Amarillo, Texas) who is also a plumber owns joetheplummer.com website is being bombarded by phone calls, calls for interviews, requests to be in a talk show and even an offer from New York to buy his domain for $900,000. Another Joe (Joe Griesbach) is from Cape May, New Jersey. He drives a van with his name “Plumber Joe” on it. He has been signing autographs and television interviews since Wednesday night’s debate where they all became a household name and famous. He said motorists saluted at him or honked their horns when they see him driving on the road.

To all the Joe the Plumbers out there enjoy the stardom, and good luck. Hope I meet one of you someday.

Web Hosting Geeks

When I first started blogging, I availed one of the free publishing tools available online. It was a trial and error until I learned the inns and out of having a website. Now I have several blogs which I maintain every day to keep it current and make my readers updated. Once you have your own website, you want more and a better one. My next step is having my own domain. I want to pick the right web host for my website. I know there are a lot of things to be considered in having your own domain like disk space, pricing, bandwidth, support, security and back up. Since there are a lot of web hosts available nowadays, it is quite difficult to determine which one is best suited for you. I have been reading a web hosting blog by which I was able to get feedbacks and direct customer recommendations based on their experiences. The researches and comparison between the different web host providers are never ending. I am so thankful I came across this website called Web Hosting Geeks which can be helpful to all who have plans of getting your own domain. They provide you with guidelines, independent reviews and ranking of web host providers, individual features and different hosting packages. This website is not only for professionals but also great for beginners like me. Everything that I need in making a decision for my own domain is found on webhostinggeeks.com.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie to Splitsville

The couple have issued a joint statement that they are ending their marriage of almost 8 years. They got married in December of 2000 at a Scottish Castle. No agreement has been agreed upon yet but they are reported to be worth $525 million. This can be another high profile celebrity divorce. Madonna and Guy have two kids of their own: Rocco, 8 and David Banda, 3 plus an adopted child from Malawi. Madonna has another daughter from a former relationship who is 12 years old named Lourdes. Few months ago, she was rumored seeing the new York yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez who both denied it which they allegedly said led to the break up of Alex and his ex-wife Cynthia.

Pizza Eating Champ

It’s Joey Chestnut again. On my previous post, he was the winner of the Coney Island hotdog eating contest last 4th of July. Now he proved that not only he is the no. 1 hotdog eater but the no. 1 pizza eater as well. In Times Square New York last Sunday, Joey won the first Famous Famiglia World Pizza Eating Championship. He finished 45 slices in 10 minutes. How did he prepare for this contest? He said he starved himself for more than a day and to make the pizza easier to swallow, he folded and squeezed it.

My Favorite Bible Verse

I attended Catholic School from elementary to college. I even stayed at the school’s dormitory half of my elementary years to high school. I cannot forget the everyday masses, bible studies and retreats that we had. I remember our homework in Religion where every meeting we have to have our own favorite verse and you are asked to tell your thoughts or Find out more about your life that you can relate to your favorite bible verse. I have a lot of favorite verses but what really strike me most of the time is the one from Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

As you mature and go through life, problems come along the way. You experience the ups and downs of life that sometimes when you are so down with so much trials to face you just want to give up. You probably think that somebody up there has left or abandoned you. During this crisis in life, I always turn to my bible, read and reflect my favorite verse. It has been so effective to me. I know that HE will not give me anything that I cannot handle as long as I put my total trust in HIM.

Lately, I have been trying to Find out more about local retreats where I can join. I have read about the forthcoming first ever Theater Church Conference in Silver Spring, MD to be hosted by CineMeetings & Events on October 22-23. I need to Find out moreabout this interesting event and check my schedule. Hope we will see each other there.

My Dragon Companion

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 Preferred

I have a step daughter who works as a part time writer in one of the local papers here. She still go to school in New York and her travel time is around 2 hours every day. During her last birthday, I have given her a voice recorder where she can record all her thoughts, ideas, interviews and anything she finds interesting during her commnute. She enjoys commuting than driving because she gets the chance to think and gather her thoughts together. She does not have time to write her notes so everything that pops in her mind while in the bus, path train or subway are dictated on her voice recorder. When she gets home, she transcribes everything to text using Dragon Naturally Speaking. This has been a lot of help to her because Dragon naturally speaking software is already doing the job for her by putting all her thoughts and stories to text. She is also impress with its accuracy and speed.

What made me decide to get this product? I believe that this is very handy and helpful to my stepdaughter's job as a travelling writer. Also, all the dragon reviews that I have read bear excellent feedback from customers. I was also impressed with the result of dragon's typing speed test. I highly recommend this product to people who loves to write but always on the go.

Some Have Long Weekend, Not Us

My daughter has no school today but she has school on Monday. Papa has work today but no work on Monday in oberservance of Columbus Day. But Mommy, has work today and also on Monday. That’s not fair!

It’s alright. We never observe Columbus Day at my job. I will not trade the long weekend on Thanksgiving weekend with Monday’ s Holiday. How can you go black Friday shopping if you have work, right?

Thank You BFF

My friend just came back from a vacation in San Diego. She knows how I miss In and Out Burger so she gave me this in and out hat as pasalubong. I found it on my computer chair this morning. She said she asked it from one of the crews and she was thinking of me while munching their famous fries. Thanks for the thought too! Last time I had in and out was 4 years ago when we were in CA for my daughter’s christening. I used to be an OC Girl until I moved here in 2000.

Change the Way You Fly Through Air New Zealand

We are a family that loves to travel. We love seeing new places and meeting new people. My husband, before he migrated here in the U.S. he was living in Australia for so many years. He has never been back there to visit his friends although they have been in touch with each other through emails and phone calls. Next year, we have plans of going home to the Philippines and at the same time we are planning to make a side trip first to Australia and New Zealand. I saw an add of www.airnewzealand.com a domestic and international airline with services within New Zealand and Australia as well as South West Pacific, Asia, North America and United Kingdom, having new promotions, hot deals and special offers to travelers. We are interested in one of their fare deals to Australia and Asia.

Have you heard their unique way of promoting the airline’s service? Air New Zealand will be selecting 30 adults to be shaved and tattooed and be a cranial billboard as part of their marketing campaign promoting life changing journeys to New Zealand. Wow, life-changing journeys? I think New Zealand has so much to offer to visitors, something that can be treasured forever. We always get excited every time we hear so much about down under.

Hey, do you think my husband’s head can be a good candidate for Air New Zealand’s cranial billboard? His head is sexy, almost bald and perfect for your add “Need a Change? Head down to New Zealand.”

We Accept Credit Cards Now

I am so glad that the company I am working with is going to accept electronic payments. We have signed up a card processing merchant account so that we can start accepting major credit cards, debit cards and electronic check payments. This will save us a lot of time because every end of the month we print our statements, put in envelopes manually and mail them. Imagine we have to do around 1500 statements every month! Now all our customers can just go online, view their accounts and make payment at the comforts of their own offices. Merchantacceptance.com offers free consultation if you are interested in having your business accept credit card for payments or you can call toll free at 1-800-238-0052.
