Lake Party

Yesterday we celebrated another birthday in the family. It was the second grandson's birthday celebration. He turned 5 years old last Friday and his birthday party was done at the lakes. Every year his birthday kicks off our summer fun in the sun and water activities.

Summer officially started last June 21st. Maybe a lot of people was so excited to enjoy the outdoor and the summer that the lake got packed so early. Some of our family members arrived early at the lake to reserve the spot but when we got there around 11:00 a.m. the parking was already full. The park attendant let us park far from the beach area so we have to walk with all our bags and umbrellas. I was lucky to be wearing one comfort shoes for women. The rocky and hilly terrain we have to pass through to get to the lake did not bother my feet at all. I got a good tan before we reach the picnic area from the scorching heat of the sun. Just after we unloaded our stuffs from our backs and set up our beach chairs and umbrellas, we went right away to the water until our stomach was calling us for food and drinks. Everybody has so much fun especially the kids who do not want to leave the lake.

To Maryland

My sister-in-law and her husband are here in the U.S. for a three month vacation.  They have been for three weeks now. Every weekend, we have plans for them like going shopping at outlets, see various tourist spots around New Jersey and New York or do cookouts and barbecues with relatives in our backyard.  Last week, it was my husband’s brother who also lives here who brought the visitors to North Carolina for a week vacation. They just got home two days ago. Tomorrow or should I say this weekend is our turn to bring them to Maryland and see some of their friends. It has been confirmed just now by people from Maryland that they are expecting us tomorrow.

Because of our trip, we have to make adjustments with regards to our other plans for the weekend. First, the van (which we are using tomorrow) will go for oil change today instead of Sunday then I have to shop for the best baby blankets for my cousin who is expecting. She lives in South Jersey so we can stop at her house tomorrow to give my present. This will be a big surprise for her. This trip is unplanned so my cousin thinks I am sending her present through the mail. I hope she likes it. I hope all my errands are done by 7:30 p.m. Why, because I want to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics live on TV tonight. If time is running out, we will just have a take home dinner at eat while watching the Olympics.

Two weeks after school opened, I found the note the school gave out regarding the proper color of socks the kids can wear with their uniforms. Shopping Galore

There are two holidays that we always look forward for big discount shopping. One is the Memorial day weekend sale and the other one is the Labor Day weekend sale. It's Prom Season Again

I have a date with my girlfriend tomorrow night after work. It’s not a girls’ night out . I am going to their house to help her with her daughter’s prom dress. How time flies really. All of a sudden it is the season for proms again. It seems that it was only few months back when I was shopping for cheap prom dresses for the step daughter. If it's my daughter’s turn to go to a prom I doubt if I could still find some cheap prom dresses, maybe I can just remodel my old junior bridesmaid dresses for her. I can hear her protesting right now!

So with my girl friend’s daughter, she wants a dress, not a gown. She is going with her boyfriend who is also Filipino. I am not sure if she will be allowed to go to the party after the prom. I heard it will be in one of the hotels in new York city. This is her first grown event with no chaperone and they will be in a limo with three of her friends. Mom is excited and also nervous. I am too.

It's Costco Time

Friday was Costco time for us. We always want to go on a weekday because weekends at Costco is always packed. Not all our groceries are bought there but there are stuffs that are cheaper to buy in bulk so we go to Costco.

There has been some change of plans regarding our vacation to the Philippines because of my school. I think it will work out better this way so that I can have time to earn some extra income for travel expense as I wait for another year. There is really a need to replenish since I have used some of my money for school.

Shopping For Rain Boots

Since it has been raining for the past weeks, I figured it is about time to buy a rain boots. I know too that April is a rainy month, wearing rain boots will definitely be both a necessity and a fashion. Mind you, it took me three weeks to finally decide which boots I really wanted. At a certain point, I have three boxes of rain boots and a stuart weitzman shoes in my car but I ended up returning them all and got a different one. All the shoes are knee boots and wearing a high boots is not really comfortable for a petite person like me. I am fine with soft leather tall boots but not with plastic rain boots.

Tired And No Time To Cook

Because we went to Costco after coming from work (around 6pm), so we just decided to buy the chicken wrap, pizza and caesar salad from there for our dinner. The caesar salad was big enough for us with huge slices of chicken breast. I tell you, the best time to go to Costco is during weekdays, less crowd, no line at the cashier and easy to get a parking.
